“I came to know Ripley (aka Lulu) through Nicole Simone. Nicole spoke up for her, (saving her from being put to sleep) knowing that she could find her a forever home if given some time. Lulu was located in Ohio so it took 12 volunteer drivers, each driving about an hour of the way to bring her up to Toronto.
I had been working from home for the past year and had been thinking it would be a good time to get a dog if I was ever going to do it so I went to go visit Lulu at Nicole’s apartment. At first blush I was really surprised by how small she was. Lulu is like a cat, she’s playful but she doesn’t beg for affection.
I knew after the first meeting I wanted to adopt her so I started the application process and was approved to be her new dad.
To commemorate a new life and a fresh start I renamed her “Ripley” after Sigourney Weaver’s character from the Alien movies. It’s been 5 months now since adopting her and I can’t imagine my life without her. She’s still an independent spirit but when I take her to new places she follows me everywhere and that melts my heart. I love her. ” – Jason Nip
